Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a referral?  Washington is a direct access state, so referrals are not required.
  • How soon after birth should I schedule my first visit?  After your 6 week check up and clearance from your birth provider. 
  • Do you accept insurance?  I am “out of network” with all insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid. This allows me to spend more one-on-one time in our sessions and provide the highest quality of care to my patients. I collect payment at the time of service in the form of cash, credit card, check, Venmo, flexible savings accounts or health savings accounts. I absolutely work with each patient to develop a plan that works for their schedule, lifestyle, and budget.

  Fees for each appointment are as follows:

  Physical therapy initial evaluation $195

  Physical therapy follow up $165

  Clinical Pilates session $115

  Mat pilates class $25

You may be able to file this with your insurance company “out of network” reimbursement.” If you are interested in knowing your level of “out of network” reimbursement, please call your insurance provider and ask about their coverage for “out of network physical therapy”. This is solely the responsibility of the patient. Upon request, we can provide a superbill or itemized bill with all the necessary information to submit it to your insurance. This is the sole responsibility of the patient to do so.

  • What should I expect at my first session?  The first session is a lot of information gathering. It is 50 minutes long, one-on-one, in a private treatment room and you will discuss your history, concerns, and symptoms that have brought you into the clinic.

    After discussion I will perform an initial assessment which typically includes a functional screening, posture screening, and various special tests to consider all contributing factors. We will set goals that are specific and measureable.

    For pelvic health patients, an internal vaginal and/or rectal muscle assessment will only be performed with your permission and only if you are comfortable. If you would prefer to wait until a future session or not at all, that is fine.

  • How many appointments should I schedule? It is hard to predict everyone's treatment timeline, but you can plan on a minimum of 4-6 visits to accomplish a thorough assessment, development of a treatment plan, and progression of that treatment towards your goals. I recommend scheduling weekly visits for the first 4-6 weeks and then we will assess how to continue moving forward. I am very open to acommodating each patients budget, schedule, and home exercise ability but ultimately I will recommend continuing treatment until we have made good progress towards your goals. 
  • For pelvic PT, should I still come to PT if I am on my period?  This is up to you. Treatment during menstruation is still possible, or alternatively we can focus on external work and other exercise based interventions. You are also always welcome to reschedule your session if outside of the 24 hour cancellation window. 
  • What is the cancellation policy? Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee to the card on file. This fee is 50% of the appointment cost for Physical Therapy and Clinical Pilates, and the full cost for the pilates mat classes.
